Patrick and Lauren have been illustrating since 1988 and formed Medical Imagery Studios in 1994. While both artists have similar artistic backgrounds, Lauren is very strong in art direction that brings beauty and uniqueness to their work, and Patrick has amazing technical and web design skills.

Their expertise includes Medical Illustration, Medical-Legal Graphics, Animation, Web Site Design, Graphic Design & Branding and a vast collection of Medical Stock Art Images. Their clients include publishers, ad agencies, web developers, medical groups and law firms nationally and internationally.

Lauren Shavell

I am a graduate of the Masters of Associated Medical Sciences program in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois, Chicago. At the time one of only five accredited medical illustration programs in the country by the American Medical Association, Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA). I received my Bachelor of Arts from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa in art and minored in science.

With over 30 years of experience I easily create illustrations from the very schematic to highly complex images, and I specialize in 2D color rendering, pen & ink, graphic and web design. I am a visionary, with expertise in art direction and project management and have been a professional medical illustrator since 1989.

We take great pride in developing accurate and original images that not only tell a story, but they promote understanding and provides the best visual solutions our clients.

Patrick Carrico

I am a graduate of the Masters of Associated Medical Sciences program in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois Medical Center, at Chicago. Previously, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois, and minored in art.

Since 1988, I've been rendering illustrations from schematic to highly complex images using both 2D and 3D animation, as well as creating and designing websites. Most of our work is created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Character Animator, Animate, InDesign, Cinema 4D, Daz 3D, and Poser.

Our illustrations, animations and design work help communicate medical-related information to professional and lay audiences in an accurate and aesthetic way.
